Student Blogs + First Two Posts + Pre-Reading for "The Fun They Had"

Today our Grades 6/7 students:

• Began setting up their individual Student Blogs & were reminded they could review information about blogging at this post
• Wrote a Welcome Post, learning how to:
• Open the Post Editing Box
• Write their post
• Use the Post Editing Box Menu Bar to: change font, change font size, bold face, italicize, underline, strike through, change colors, highlight, link, add a picture (see above), and embed a video (will show some other time!) .
• Wrote a SMERFCAPS Post, in which they:
• Copied and pasted their homework essay on the aspect of history that interests them most
• Added a picture to the top of the blog post
• Added a link to a site with information on something in their essay
• Had the option to embed a YouTube video
• Began a Pre-Reading Activity prior to reading the Isaac Asimov short story, "The Fun They Had." For this they:
• Wrote on an Open Office word document an answer to the question, "What would it be like if all of your schooling were done at home on computer?"
• Copied and pasted their answer into this Google Document which was shared by me with them.
• Were instructed to write only in the cell under their own name and NOT to mess with what anyone else had written in the other cells.

Assignments - Due Friday, 8/21
1. Pre-Reading Activity

• Finish answering the question "What would it be like if all of your schooling were done at home on computer?" (You did this using Open Office.)

• Read and come prepared to discuss the short story by Isaac Asimov called "The Fun They Had." (Clicky clicky.)
