Today the 6th & 7th Graders:

• Continued watching the PBS video on the War of 1812 through the Battle of the Thames River (Canada), October 5, 1813
• Discussed Ch. 4 & 5 of the Lafitte book, focusing especially on the student-raised questions, "Why was smuggling (considered) good?" and "Why was Jean Lafitte so transparent about his slave auctions?"
• Added to their My Maps of the Lafitte book geographical places mentioned in Ch. 2, 3, 4, & 5

Assignments

For Wednesday
1. Read Ch. 6, 7, & 8  in Lafitte.
2. Write 3 discussion questions for each chapter and come prepared to discuss them.

For Friday - Spelling/Vocabulary Quiz for Ch. 1 of Lafitte book (see word list posted Monday, 10/19)
