The Battle of Queenston Heights (Canada) - Oct. 13, 1812
Today our 6th & 7th Graders:
- Indicated their awareness of this week's Vocabulary words (1 finger = knew the definition; 2 fingers = had heard of it but couldn't define it; 3 fingers = never heard of it)
- Collaborate on a Quizlet of the definitions (See Vocabulary list below.)
- Reviewed the Timeline Table of the War of 1812 to notice the downs and ups of the American military forces during the war
- Viewed the PBS Video on the War of 1812 through the Battle of Frenchtown (aka "River Raisin") & British Blockade of early 1813 (47:48 on the video)
- Did some excellent analysis of the video's map showing the 3 invasion points the U. S. planned to attack in seizing Canada
- Discussed Ch. 2 & 3 of the Lafitte book, focusing on an excellent question posted at a student's blog: "Why does Jean Lafitte not just answer all of the questions, that are the mysteries about him when they see him around?"
