Spelling/Vocabulary List + "War Hawks" vs. Federalists + Timeline Table on War of 1812 + Debate Prep + Document Analysis on Causes of War of 1812

Henry Clay - War Vote, 1812 - Pres. James Madison

Today the Grades 6 & 7s:
  • Received their Spelling/Vocabulary list for this Friday's Quiz. (See below.)
  • Were placed on teams for the "War Hawks" vs. Federalists Debate later this week.
  • Did some team planning for the debate.
  • Read the first column of the Timeline Table - War of 1812, highlighting and taking notes on anything their side could use in the debate. (They were encouraged to read over the rest of the table, time permitting.)
  • Worked together on an Analysis of Documents on the Causes of the War of 1812 , classifying them as to whether each document reflected a "War Hawk" or a Federalist point of view. (We got Docs A, B, & C finished in class. Students are to finish the rest for homework.)
Assignments for Wednesday
1. Analysis of Documents on the Causes of the War of 1812

  • You can simply transfer the information you've already written to this handout.
  • Be sure also to highlight and/or take notes to use as evidence to support your side in the upcoming debate.
