Science Fun at the CAC + Bartleby, cont'd + Vocabulary Practice (almost)

Today the 6/7s:
  • Went to the CAC to learn some science from a pseudoscientific magician
  • Enjoyed viewing the artworks of former CCS teacher Debbie Smith Barnes and Ted Barnes
  • Continued our discussion of "Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street", focusing on Bartleby's "passive resistance" (or is it "passive aggressiveness"? Click here for some of the student-generated ideas.
  • Discussed why Melville had Bartleby repeatedly say "I would prefer not to" rather than "I will not" and brainstormed alternative statements he could have puppeted
  • Received vocabulary cards for practicing/acting out some of the words but ran out of time to do it today and will therefore do it tomorrow
